Moreover, OptoDex® passivates surfaces by suppressing unwanted, non-specific molecular- or cell-surface interactions. By now, Arrayon has successfully bonded more than 100 different biomolecules to surfaces including antibodies, enzymes, vaccines, allergens, polysaccharides, growth factors and receptors.

State-of-the-art biomolecule bonding to surfaces usually takes place in liquid phase and is followed by drying, preferably with saccharides added (Bond-And-Dry). With OptoDex®, however, biomolecules are covalently bonded to surface in complete dry state. The bonding reaction occurs in one single step without forming side products except nitrogen. Furthermore, this unique “Dry-And-Bond” procedure, in presence of dextran-based OptoDex®, abolishes denaturation stress on the bio-molecules during drying and bonding. As a consequence, astounding preservation of the molecule’s biological function is obtained. Products with OptoDex® dry state bonding are therefore extremely durable and have long shelf lives.
